Revision Back Liposuction

Revision liposuction is the correction of a previous liposuction surgery. Revision liposuction of the back is an option for many patients is the results of the first surgery were not satisfactory. This can happen if less fat was removed than the patient desired, if the results were asymmetrical on each side of the back, or if the areas where surgery was performed were not blended well with the surrounding tissue.

Back liposuction involves the removal of excess fat, usually from each side of the back where folds can occur just below the shoulder blades. Revision liposuction of the back is performed the same as the original surgery. A steel tube called a cannula is inserted through small incisions to extract excess fat. However, since the surgery is being performed for a second time on the same area and by a different doctor, that doctor should be a specialist in revision liposuction.
